The rule of thumb when trying to arrive at what colors to use for your wedding party is to work with three colors: the first color is the color of the Bride’s gown (White, Diamond white, Ivory, Alabaster, Pearl, etc); the second is the color of your bridesmaids’ dresses; and the third is an accent color. Your accent color can be in the form of a contrasting color on the Bridal Gown or the bridesmaids’ dresses, or it can be the predominant color in your flowers. Some brides choose to use a metallic color such as gold or silver as an accent.

If you choose to have a ring bearer in your party, make sure that he is a willing participant. Oftentimes he is too young or emotionally not ready to handle all the festivities without a break down.

Because
Dads are not usually members of the wedding party, it is okay to put
them in a different tuxedo than the ushers, especially if the groom
has chosen a trendy style to suit his groomsmen. Dad may feel more
comfortable in a conservative or traditional style and will spend
less money.
